My first outdoor climb was great!

I went to diary farm quarry for my first outdoor climb on sat and it felt great! A total different feel as compared to the indoor. More challenging , a bit scary but fun! I went together with 2 experienced climbers and learnt a lot from them. They taught me different techniques, movements, routes and even the different usage of equipments....etc. (did not manage to master any of the challenging moves by the way!! hahaha...) It was really a good experience and I will definitely go back and climb again.

We climbed at the same spot where James met the accident and discovered a metal plate left behind by his family. His name, age and the date of the accident was carved onto the metal plate. There is a phrase carved in Chinese character behind the plate. The meaning is something like : " Death to human is the last chapter but to Jesus is the first chapter." My two friends were with James when the accident happened, they were a little upset when they saw the plate but soon they got over it and continued climbing. I am so touched that this accident did not deter them from climbing. I know it is not easy to get over the death of their friend but I can see that they are trying to put the incident behind them and continue to enjoy the sport they love.

I only climbed twice for the day and it already took up all of my energy! Had bruises here and there esp on my knees. Think is the way I climbed, not used to the different curves and slopes of the real rocks, so had been knocking here and there. Shall improve on my climbing skills to avoid knocking my knees on the rocks again!! kekeke....

While I was at my 2nd climb, there was this group of cyclist stopped by and watched. I was so stressed and felt uneasy with so many eyes on me!! But still I am proud of myself that i managed to reach the top!

Not only I had a great climb that day, but also had a great conversation with my friends during lunch time. An English guy ( one of my friend's friend) was cycling near bukit timah joined us for lunch and we had a great talk. It is kind of a funny group of us cos I am a chinese, my two other friends are indian and american and this english guy, so is like a multi national team! haha... I find myself contributing nothing when they talked about different issues, from work to sports to travelling etc...they had so much experience in life and had encountered and achieved so much that I find myself so ignorant and shallow. But still I learnt a lot and enjoyed myself very much!
